CANCELED!!!
A psychogeographical excursion based on the dérive concept applied by the Situationist movement. The Situationist theoretician Guy Debord explained dérive as ‘a mode of experimental behaviour linked to the conditions of urban society: a technique of rapid passage through varied ambiences’. This concept ‘expands’ (depending on interpretation) the scope of predefined actors, whom it will be possible to meet ‘out in the field’, often at a location other than where they carry out their personal and professional activities. The selected location will frequently be more important than the individual, and it may disrupt or even throw off the coordinates of both the participants as well as the guests and their respective theses. The participants will include state and local government employees, teachers, activists, artists, politicians, and others. Although this dérive consists of many interlinked events, the aim is to achieve one coherent experience. As a result, it will not be possible to be involved in only certain sections, and it is required to complete the daylong demanding (both physically as well as intellectually) event. The concept behind this dérive makes it impossible to define an ‘accurate’ format with regard to time and content, and it relies on the direct participation of those involved and their gradual ‘enrichment through continuous depletion’.
