Fading Flowers of Freedom

In 1989, the communist regime collapsed after forty years, and the promise of democracy ceased to be a myth. The pressure of the previous ideology unexpectedly abated, and many people suddenly did not know what to do with the unexperienced freedom. The first years were literally a kind of explosion. In the next decades, such a situation did not happen again. Not everyone has survived the gained freedom: Damn, it was pretty hard for everyone.(Agda Bavi Pain*) Let us have a look at the period between the perestroika and the onset of neoliberal capitalism through the optics of the early 1990s atmosphere in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Because the first gusts of freedom were still credible, authentic, and highly addictive.
